Here, you can choose the cart type for your store. Additionally, you can enable a cart note, in-cart discount feature, free shipping notification, promo message, and introduce complementary products, like gift wrapping, to further enrich the cart functionality.

Free shipping message

If you’re offering free shipping when a certain cart total threshold is reached, you can display the current status in the cart.

In the Message field, add your message and use the *amount* placeholder where the calculated value should appear. For example: Spend *amount* more for FREE SHIPPING.

In the Minimum Amount field, enter the numeric value above which a customer qualifies for free shipping. For example: 100.

Important: The value entered is in your store’s base currency. If your store’s currency is US dollars (USD), then the value of 100 will be $100. If you’ve set up your store to show prices in the customer’s local currency, the value you enter will be automatically converted, and the *amount* will be calculated accordingly.

In the Success Message field, add the message you want customers to see when they exceed the set threshold and qualify for free shipping. For example: You qualify for FREE shipping.

Setting up a free shipping threshold per market

If your store serves multiple markets, it is possible to set up different thresholds for different markets using a metafield. This can be set up in a few simple steps.

Add metafield definition:

  1. Create market metafield. Go to ‘Shopify admin->Settings->Metafields & Metaobjects->Markets’ and click ‘Add definition’.
  2. In the ‘Name” field, enter ‘free shipping value‘ and make sure that the ‘key’ below the field matches exactly ‘custom.free_shipping_value
  3. From the ‘Type’ dropdown, select ‘Single line text’ and make sure that ‘One’ is selected in the other dropdown.
  4. Make sure that it looks like in the screenshot below and save the definition.

Enter a value for each market:

  1. Go to ‘Shopify admin->Markets’ and click on the market for which you want to set a specific free shipping threshold.
  2. In its ‘Metafields’ section, you’ll find the ‘free shipping value’ metafield you created.
  3. Click the ‘+’ icon to add the metafield, and then add the value to the field and save.

Important: if you have multiple markets and you add the metafield value only to some of them, the other markets will use the initially set value in the ‘Cart’ settings.
