Using 3rd Party App Blocks in Product Information Section

Estimated reading: 2 minutes

The Flux theme offers an innovative way to position Product information blocks on the product page, allowing you to freely create one-, two-, or three-column layouts and position the blocks flexibly within them.

Default positioning of 3rd party app blocks

Since 3rd party app blocks don’t have the same positioning options as native blocks, their placement directly depends on the block listed above them.

For example, if you’re using a three-column layout and want to position an app block in the right column below the Buy Buttons block, place the app block directly under Buy Buttons in the block list.

Similarly, to position the app block in the left column below, for example, the Description block, add it directly below that block in the list.

Alternative approach

With the default approach, you won’t be able to position a 3rd party app block at the top of a column since there’s no block above it.

In addition, the theme’s Product Information blocks have an option to hide blocks in the Quick View window, which is also not available for third-party app blocks.

If you need either of these options, using a Custom Liquid block instead of the app’s default block is the solution.

Each app also provides a code snippet that can be added to the Custom Liquid block to display the app in that way.

  • Tip: The snippets can usually be found in the app’s documentation, specifically in the “Vintage Themes” section, as this was the default method of adding apps before Shopify 2.0 themes were introduced.

Since Flux’s Custom Liquid block has the same positioning options as the other Flux blocks, you can freely position your app wherever you like.
